Old Mill, Lindsay, Ontario

Dan Chalykoff Heritage Consultancy project OLD MILL

Abandoned ruin awaiting revitalization. Just look at it – the construction of lumber and grain mills were typically the genesis of the towns that became the cities that became North America. In Ontario it happened between the 1780s and the 1840s mostly. Stone, arches, window openings on the river.

We prepared feasibility and financing studies, talked to local people, institutions, politicians etc. but couldn’t find a way to make restoration and adaptive re-use pay.
